North Hills Expansion
In August we got all (3) CO’s for Building’s TU, Y, and P!
This concludes our major scope of work on this project. Big thanks to Adam, Miguel, Abner, and Rolando for their exceptional leadership over the last year and half, as we simultaneously completed a new 2-story parking deck, a 5-story office building, and a 10-story office building.
Lexus of Raleigh
The Lexus of Raleigh renovation is moving along. In August, we completed Phase 1 of the project and turned it over to the owner. This is a particularly challenging project, as the dealership and service facility will remain open for the duration of construction. Johnny (PM) and Rodolfo (Foreman) have done an outstanding job in highlighting the value that MCI brings to every project. Great job!
Kitchens, Kitchens, Kitchens...
Over the last quarter, we’ve had plenty of opportunity to sharpen our skills in the restaurant market. We are currently working on (3) major restaurant projects (Ruth’s Chris, PNC Chi-Fil-A, and the Flying Bull Brewery). Each one of these is unique and provides different challenges.

At Flying-Bull, Johnny (PM), Rodolfo (Foreman) & team are working hard to install close to 100ft of grease duct, a kitchen hood, and a PCU (pollution control unit). The PCUs require detailed coordination for installation, and many times the design drawings don’t accurately capture the complexity of these units. Our team identified the lack of a 2-hour rated enclosure at the PCU, which is required by code and have been working with the GC and design team to design a rated enclosure that will accommodate the PCU and allow for service access. Once again, the Raleigh construction team has highlighted the value of hiring detail-oriented and skilled craftsmen!

At Ruth’s Chris we have installed (2) make-up air units, over 150ft of 30” grease duct, (3) kitchen hoods, and (1) dishwasher hood. This duct runs to the roof of a 12-story residential tower that is currently under construction. With limited space above the ceiling to fit this monster duct, the Brasfield & Gorrie team contracted our BIM team to help coordinate the routing and minimize conflicts in the field. The restaurant is scheduled to open after the first of the year.

At PNC – Daniel (PM), and Javier (Foreman) & team had quite the challenge of installing a new hood and connecting it to the existing grease duct. After some extensive field coordination, they were able to sketch and fabricate custom hood connections successfully. Next time you’re at PNC stop by and check out their work!
