MCI provided HVAC services for the construction of SCANA Headquarters. The project consisted of five major office buildings totaling about 600,000 square feet on 70 acres which involved extensive project management and onsite trade coordination. The project took two years to complete and, at one time, had a maximum labor force of 650 men and women. Fifty of those were sheet metal and pipe labor for MCI. The campus accommodates approximately 1,000 employees and provides a fully equipped cafeteria/dining facility, state of the art company fitness center, an auditorium and studio. All five buildings are connected by a ¼ mile service tunnel below grade.
- Three 500 ton central chillers and a chill water pumping package serving interior air handlers and rooftop units for the buildings
- Most major HVAC equipment had to be rigged and transported down the service tunnel for installation.
- HVAC system was designed around VAV zone boxes with electric re-heat and can maintain a common global temperature set point.
- The HVAC controls monitor all systems and has programming capability to notify proper personnel when system failure occurs.
